Our Founders

It is through both the daily joys and daily tragedies that life is able to open doors, hearts, eyes, and minds to our greatest callings.

Phillip Macri

On August 28, 1987 Phillip traveled with his sister to a softball tournament in Virginia Beach, VA. They took a few hours to enjoy the sand and the surf. Phillip, at the tender age of seventeen, dove into the warm ocean. As he hit the water, a wave rolled his neck downward, breaking his neck. He hit the bottom, suddenly unable to move or call for help. Phillip was critically injured and his life was forever changed.

The basketball star from New Castle, Pennsylvania had no feeling and no movement from the neck down. Phillip battled through surgeries, setbacks, and depression. His family stayed with him, prayed with him and learned to care for him. His parent’s became his life-line. Phillip graduated from New Castle Senior High School in 1988.

With the same drive and determination, Phillip went on to get his Bachelor’s Degrees in both Communications and Political Science from Westminster College in 1995. In 2001, Phillip along with his sister Charlene opened a sporting goods store and flourished until 2015.

In 2015, Phillip followed his heart and decided to focus his energy on helping others by starting up the Compassionate Home Health Care, Inc. He was blessed with wonderful caregivers in both of his parents. For thirty years, they supported him through the ups and downs of being a quadriplegic. When they finally decided to bring in help, Phillip recognized the important role that home health care nurses and aides played in his daily well-being.

During Phillip’s extensive rehabilitation, he was introduced to Michael Lacey, R.K.T, C.S.C.S, who was instrumental in helping Phillip recover from his injury. This trust developed into a longtime friendship.

Michael Lacey, R.K.T, C.S.C.S

Michael is a registered Kinesiotherapist, who has over 30 years of experience in the delivery of rehabilitation medicine as both a practitioner and a manager. He has worked in all settings including home health, outpatient clinics, as well as hospital settings. Michael’s interest in home health care originated during his employment with The Butler Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was part of a “trained project” known as Hospital Bound Home Care that consisted of a multidisciplinary approach to providing quality home health care to our veterans at home, which significantly decreased their need for hospital admissions. It is our team goal to bring those same standards of care to patients/clients of CHHC.

Michael is a graduate of Slippery Rock University and has completed much postgraduate work including certifications from “The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis” at The University of Miami Jackson Medical Center in Florida. Mike’s background in the health industry and his genuine passion for the needs of others make him a perfect fit for a partnership in Compassionate Home Care Health (CHHC).

Andy Kennedy

The third component to a successful venture is bringing business knowledge coupled with compassion to the business. Fifteen years ago, Andy Kennedy became a valued consultant to Phillip Macri and his business. Over the months and years, Phillip and Andy developed not only a productive business relationship but recognized the exceptional traits of one another as caring individuals.

Andy has all of the right credentials. He is a consultant providing business and accounting consulting services to small and medium sized businesses in the Western PA/Eastern OH area. He received his Bachelor Degree from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma and currently resides in Beaver County with his wife, Amy.

It was the continuous outpouring of compassion toward others that eventually opened the door of discussion on how they might work together and at the same time, how they might serve the needs of others.

Phillip’s personal experience with great care givers; Mike’s proven medical expertise and Andy’s background in business and his long career of ministry fueled their desire to create a company that would offer this same outstanding care to other patients. The goal was to form a home care team that was not only kind, but consistent, skilled and compassionate. The desire to help was two-fold: together they recognized that treating the agency’s employees with respect and dignity, as well as valuing good work habits and skills, would allow these dedicated workers to thrive as well as the people they serve.
